This week has been a tough one art wise. My pages have been small and limited to what I could do in a few minutes. I just haven’t had the energy to get all the supplies out and really experiment like I want to.
That’s ok.
The biggest thing I have done is play and play and play with my new watercolours. My dad gave me money to spend on some tubes Christmas and I’ve been anxious to get a new palate working…

Behold!
I love the colours I chose. Deep Windsor red, bright Windsor blue, rose madder, sap green, magnesium brown… Such names too!

I’ve done just a little bit of face practice. I need work. But I’d say this is a pretty good start. Both of these were drawn with my left hand. I’m a way better realistic portrait artist with my non dominant hand. I think it’s that I have less control, so my brain takes over. I love the top one, but I wish the shading were more realistic. Bad paper and an overzealous hand made it a bit dark.
I also played with washes and sketching…

I spent yesterday going through my magazines for background papers and images. I don’t feel badly about using them because this journaling work is mostly for me. I’m loving the process. I love knowing that I’m going to sit down with my supplies at least once a day.
It’s a good feeling.
