{Weekending} Full

Weekending with Amanda:

Friday was busy with getting things done, dinner at Bill’s Family Restaurant, being recognized as “regulars” which we are definitely becoming. Aunt Teppie came over and we watched Breakfast Club. Have you seen it? Maybe not for years. I was surprised at how much I remembered. At how coarse the language was. How angry the teens were with so much of life. I felt like it was a more honest representation of high school than the films now, and as an adult, I realized that yes, I had identified in some small way with each of the characters. No wonder I watched it over and over as a teen.

We laughed when we realized that it was so popular when I was in high school because it had only been made eight years before. Not a new film, but not old either.

Saturday I took Kate shopping with me, The Teenager went to a Brit Nicole concert with a friend, and Amante helped my dad fix a faucet on the back of my parent’s house that’s been leaking for some time. These projects always take longer than planned, but chili dogs for dinner made up for the long day.

Today, it’s easy. Lots of knitting, watching this and this. Maybe this. It’s cold. We will be inside, cuddled under blankets, pretending the outside world has slowed and stopped for just a bit.

How about you?

  1. Well Erin, you took me back a lot of years, I haven’t seen The Breakfast Club in years, a great movie.

Thanks for the email,I will have to start on these books soon. My sister has read them several times and says Terry Pratchett is her all time favorite author.

  2. I remember the movie well, it was a big hit back then wasn’t it? very talkie talkie. That means you can knit while it’s on ;) Lovely pile of knitting you have there!

  3. Love all the old John Hughes films. They actually cam out when I was in high school and I related to them so well. I’m playing catch up with Downton. I’ve got to watch last night’s episode and then I’ll be current. I so enjoy that show.

  5. Ooooh – I love the Breakfast Club too. Feel like watching it again now :)

Knitting, films and cuddling under blankets – it all sounds good to me!

  6. Oh yes, The Breakfast Club was one of my favorites! And your right, we watched it a few months back and the language was shocking! Funny how you block things out. Very glad the littles weren’t awake when we turned it on. Sheesh! Hoping y’all stay warm and toasty this week!
