Yarning along with Ginny:
There hasn’t been a lot of knitting this week. After my flash of finishing last week, my head and hands seemed to need a break. I am hoping to get some lace in today, but we got more snow, and there are little’s on the way to spend the day with us, so who knows if that will happen.

Kate and I have been reading though! Snipp, Snapp, Snurr and Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka books were some of my favorites as a child. The stories are simple, the characters endearing, and the pictures really wonderful. The girls meet new friends, make mistakes and fix them, and love their mama. I find it interesting too that Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr have a mom and a dad, but in the Flicka, Ricka and Dicka books, we really only ever meet the mom. I love simple stories. These fit the bill. Vintage, but relevant. Really fun stories! Not to mention that I love anything and everything Scandinavian!
I also finished The Nightwoods. Really good! I highly recommend it.
I’m off for now. Lots to get done before I can enjoy some stick and string time!
love those vintage books!!! happy stick and stringing….later today.
Don’t Scandinavians write the best childrens books? One week knitting, one week reading – works out just fine
Oh, I remember those books!
Isn’t it great to be able to share joys from our childhood with our children?
Your snow day books lovely lovely!
I had forgotten about those books. I bet my daughter would love them. And everybody needs a knitting rest. Lots of time to imagine what to make next.
I read those book to my babies too! Have you read, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom? It was always a big hit here.
Wish I had your snow!
Most of the best reading I do is with the boys
I keep seeing those from time to time, I should really look for them.
take care of those knitting hands! That is one of my keys to sanity
Now I’m off to see what Nightwoods is all about.
